Belos Belt

The Belos Belt is a vast asteroid belt in the Alell/Regina system. It is actually one of the most widespread asteroid belts in the entire Spinward Marches, and it has never been properly surveyed. There are at least three planet-sized bodies in the belt: Keitha, Aramanx and Schubert. Keitha is interdicted by the Alellian government for classified reasons.

The Alell government has recently (1188) started three mining operations, mainly using remote-controlled rigs and equipment, although roughly a hundred individuals work in the Belos Belt. The government has also signed several contacts with the Empire to properly survey the Belos Belt, which will prove a lenghty but potentially very profitable endeavor.

There are several rumors and legends connected with the Belos Belt. The luxury liner Aldebaran disappeared in the belt around 200 years ago, and there are many rumors regarding both cago and passengers, Image result for luxury starship

There are also the remnants of an imperial mining venture, base A99, that was abandoned some 300 years ago, when the Imperium was running a disastrous mining operation in the Belos Belt. The main base was destroyed in a freak accident caused by a Dr. Rotko Rath, a particle physicist who apparently lost his mind after an unspecified grueling experience in the Belt. The depot was evacuated in utmost haste, again for unspecified reasons, and it has not been used since. The remnants consist of a landing pad with magnetic anchors, a living and work module, and two big storage modules. It is quite empty.

It is also rumored that Keitha actually houses a base of some sort, and that the Alellian government is conducting advanced research at this base.

Another persistent rumor is that there are strange forms of life that thrive in the asteroids. No evidence of such life has ever been found, but the sightings include both small avian-like parasites that attach themselves to spaceships, and enormous creatures capable of devouring entire starships.
