Knorbes/Regina
Knorbes (silent “K”, E888787-2, rich and agricultural, G) was settled in
112 by Captain Andor Knorbes, a somewhat well-known explorer, corsair and
mercenary of that time. A capitol, Punta Corso, was established on Byron, the
southern continent, and the colony flourished for a good 450 years, until a
fierce civil war, including a nuclear exchange, destroyed several settlements.
Climate change added to the calamities, and Knorbes regressed into a pre-industrial
settlement mainly situated on the northern continent of Arundel. Over the
course of the centuries, the former frozen wastelands of Arundel became
temperate, and a prosperous agricultural society eventually developed on the
continent. Today, the Knorbes/Regina system is a backwater, despite its
proximity to the Empire and Regina. The system consists of:
- Knorbes Prime, a G-class sun
- Kira (Knorbes-A), a medium rock
- Heather (Knorbes-B), a small rock
- Knorbes-C, the main planet
- Ariel (Knorbes-D), an large ethanol liquid planet
- Shusanna (Knorbes-E), a large gas giant
- Elanna (Knorbes-F), another large gas giant
- Theodora (Knorbes-G), a small gas giant
- Heloise (Knorbes-I), an icy rock
The Knorbes Confederacy, or just “The Confederacy”, is a network of agricultural bureaucracies that are spread out over Arundel, the northern, temperate continent. It is presided over by the Chief Councilman, Renn Piers, and a number of mainly agricultural trade unions. The population is estimated to be somewhere between 15 and 25 million. The acting capitol and largest city, Mirren, has just about 100,000 inhabitants, and the known lands around Mirren and surrounding cities contain approximately ten million inhabitants. There is a small and very rarely used spaceport some ten kilometers outside Mirren.

Byron, the southern continent, has not been properly surveyed for several centuries, ever since the Imperial colonies were de-populated. The once temperate continent is now covered in particularly dense jungle with trees and plants growing immensely tall in the dense, oxygen-rich atmosphere. A few of the tribes inhabiting the continent have small coastal settlements, and there is a modicum of trade with the Confederacy.
